Battery law notice
Information regarding battery disposal
In connection with the sale of batteries or the delivery of devices containing batteries, we are obligated to inform you of the following:
Batteries may not be disposed of with household waste; instead, you are legally obligated to return used batteries so that the batteries can be recycled or professionally disposed of.
After use, you can return batteries free of charge in specialist retailers or the designated disposal points, e.g. at municipal collection sites.
The symbol with the crossed-out rubbish bin means that you are not allowed to dispose of batteries with household waste.
For batteries that contain a certain mass of lead, cadmium or mercury, the following additional information below the symbol with the crossed-out rubbish bin indicates the hazardous substance in question:
Pb = Battery contains more than 0.004 percent lead by mass
Cd =Battery contains more than 0.002 percent cadmium by mass
Hg = Battery contains more than 0.0005 percent mercury by mass
Used batteries may contain hazardous substances that could cause damage to the environment or your health in case of improper storage of disposal. However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel and can be recycled.
Information about associated costs according to Article 56 (4) of the EU Battery Regulation (Regulation 2023/1542 | https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2023/1542/oj/eng) can be found from the Initiative “Battery Takeback”.
